1930’s Ganado Red Rug; Medium: Watercolor , C. 2011
The Ganado Rug was originally woven by an unknown Navajo weaver. The artwork was painted with water color. The design is famous because of the Ganado area rugs that were traded in the beginning of the 20th century.
Lajasta Wauneka is an award winning Navajo (Dine) artist. She is from Fort Defiance, Arizona. Her main style is the rendering of Navajo Dieties (Yei) into her artwork. She has been an artist for most of her life following in the footsteps of her brothers and father.
