Talking God; Medium: Ink, C. 2010
Talking God, an ink drawing of a Navajo “Yei” (Holy People) is almost a replica of a “Yei” done in a Navajo traditional ceremony sand painting. I titled it Talking God because it is the name of one of three “Yei”. The attire of the god has a modern look. It is a button up shirt with a collar. The line on the left side is my own representation of the mesas on Navajoland.
Lajasta Wauneka is an award winning Navajo (Dine) artist. She is from Fort Defiance, Arizona. Her main style is the rendering of Navajo Dieties (Yei) into her artwork. She has been an artist for most of her life following in the footsteps of her brothers and father.
